Antonietta Collins

Antonietta Toni Collins is a Mexican American Sportcaster. Her current role is a sportscaster for ESPN, working as anchor for SportsCenter reports and hosts SportsNation. She began working for ESPN at the end of 2016. The daughter of TV reporter Maria Antonieta Collins. Antonietta is bilingual since age nine. Her skills were instrumental in her landing her first post as a production assistant at Univision Miami and Univision Miami, where she was a producer of the shows Nuestra Belleza Latina and Premios Lo Nuestro Premios Juventud. Her first job was as an reporter at an affiliate of the CBS St. Petersburg affiliate following that. She relocated in Rio Grande Valley in 2009 in order to join the team of reporters at one of the Spanish channels KNVO TV 48 Univision, as well as Fox2 News. Reporting on stories related to the trafficking of drugs and immigrants along the Texas and Mexico frontier, she worked as a journalist on both the Spanish channel KNVO TV48 Univision, as well as Fox2 News. In 1992, her parents divorced and shortly afterward in 1995 she married Fabio Fajardo who was an engineer in the naval sector who died in 2006 from kidney cancer. She stayed in Canton Ohio with her older sister over the summer, where she had been offered a job. Antonietta was an incoming senior in high school, but she had a very clear vision of her goals for the future. She visited Mount Union University to determine if they suited her. She was in love with the campus. It also gave her the program she was interested in. She finished school and enrolled at the University for a degree in media studies. The professor she had was Mark Bergmann, who managed WRMU FM and was a part of her class, established a long-lasting relationship with her. Mark Bergmann inspired her to be confident, and his love of journalism was deeply affecting her and she also determined to meet his expectations, and to never disappoint him.
